Ad Astra managed two events funded via the Big Day Out Project:
· One a coach trip to the coast – Scarborough
· One trip to Yorkshire Sculpture Park
The Scarborough trip was eventful – it was thundery rain all day but the children, young people and the families who went thoroughly enjoyed the day
The Yorkshire Sculpture Park was great weather – we walked explored various sculptures and had hands on activities making our own sculptures with the staff
For the Scarborough Trip we had
18 staff /volunteers and parents/carers
33 children/young people
For the Yorkshire Sculpture Park we had
8 staff/volunteers /parents
20 children /young people

“Thank you for our day trip to Scarborough this is our holiday this year – It was very wet but we loved being on the bus with everyone and eating our packed lunch that we made together and the extra £10 you gave for Logan really helped”
“The day was WET – well it rained and thundered all day and we didn’t get on the beach as we normally do but everyone enjoyed the day out.
We had families, young people and a couple of volunteers along with our staff team and everyone had a smile on their faces at the end of the day. We were all very wet but happy – best bits…. Puddle jumping and the ice-cream

“I came to Sculpture Park last year with these but this year we saw even more big statues and some caravan that had holes in it and a little bed”
“Yorkshire Sculpture Park was brilliant – I thought it was a play park with rides at first but then it was much better we did a lot of walking up a big hill and then we looked at some really big sculptures and some toilets on metal poles in the sky…… ”
“Yorkshire Sculpture Park was fantastic its beautiful to walk around and all the sculptures are fantastic although I don’t understand them all and had to ask Michelle to explain some of them to me but I loved it the kids didn’t stop all day I was surprised they enjoyed it so much but it was far better than them sitting in front of the TV”
