21 children and 12 adults (parents, carers and charity staff/volunteers) visited Challabrough Bay (Bigbury Beach) for a say trip at the seaside.  Each person received their own individual picnic lunch box – accommodating for dietary requirements – plus all had an ice cream or drink of their choice in the afternoon.  The transport was provided via coach travel and each child was given a beach toy to keep and take-home including buckets and spades, boules sets, activity packs or ball games. Although overcast it was the first warm dry day for several weeks and the day was a huge success.

All families were grateful for the opportunity to visit the seaside during the school holiday period. Although many live less than 30 minutes from their nearest beach, this was the first visit for some of the families. Safe Families were incredibly grateful to be able to provide this outing to parents and children who do not get these sorts of opportunities usually.  The children were all so excited and they and their parents thanked those involved for making it happen throughout the day trip. An expected bonus from the trip was the opportunity for mums to feel able to share with and support each other in a fun setting, knowing their children were having a great time. Being outdoors with children laughing and having fun made for a safe space for all involved.  Thank you so much for funding and enabling this day trip.
